i was successful in moving saturday's chore to friday afternoon, if you want Korrie, i'll push the diesel bakkie quietly down the road and all you have to do is jump out of the bedroom window... got beers in the cooler too.
i'll probably fish silverstreams or strydoms, has always been nice to me in early season, any takers?

    Hi Guys...
So what's happening on the Vaal? I've not been there since March this year. What are the flows like? Much weed and rocksnot? Clarity? Fish activity?
    Cheers

    10 cumes, so terrible.
    Lots of rock snot.
    Medium clarity.
    Spawning time.

But the guys are saying the river is fishing well but I struggled. I think I just went to the wrong venue with too much shallow water 2 weeks ago. From the reports you still need a venue with deeper water at the moment plus it's spawning time so deep water is your only option if you do fish now.

I would think that if we get some rain and a good flush the river will improve. Plus we need to give the fish 2-3 weeks to get their groove on and not disturb them too much.

fished silverstreams yesterday, concentrated my efforts below the last island. water flow seemed to be alot more than the 10 cubes mentioned, it looked more like anything between 15 to 18/19 cubes. rocksnot not bad at all, only the rocks that sit almost exposed had snot and in deeper water i felt no slip in the main currents, honestly picked up more floating green algae/grass stuff than the brown snot. from a yellow point of view, they were scarce with three landed and one dropped. muddies were filled up, hooked and lost about twenty. about half of them landed. rather a poor performance from my usual outtings because i tried the long french leader the whole day. casting distances of about 30ft was tricky and accuracy was bad but i did see it as an very effective method for the vaal.

Schoemansdrift got excellent waters to fish. I fish allot at Vermaasdrift as it not very far from Klerksdorp. Last season was productive, caught many small mouth yellows and a big 15 kg carp.

Ha ha ha. I use my trusty 30 year old Fox 7 weight fly rod mated with a Daiwa reel.
