    What I would try (if I REALLY had no other option) was to take a clothing iron, place the fibbets flat on a cutting board or something, and just do a quick draw from the center to the "end" of the fibbets, this should stretch and taper them ... in theory.

    In practice I'd get some new ones, or use/buy a paintbrush!!

    Surely lion matches would work better? They're cheaper and I read in (insert famous FF name) 's book that... Just taking the p1ss

    I once tried tying a realistic MF pattern from TCFFM magazine. The author of the fly used mono for the fibbets (sanded to a taper). I tried doing this but found it extremely time consuming + your fingers also seem to end up with a bit of a taper . If you are crazy enough you can give this method a bash but I'd go with the rest of them blokes on this one.
