Chris, are you missing the plot ? Just joking ! the thing with Flytying mono or ' invisible ' thread is that it is extremely thin. You can use 2 lb mono for some flies where not much tying is required but flies like these F/profiles involve tying many bunches of fibre and the thicker mono builds up the head too much and detracts from the required shape.
