If you are wanting all of the above things in one rod, go for something like a 9ft 3wt. Ask Andre to elaborate, he'll be more than happy to explain why.

Thanks, i'll take you up on that, let's talk and set a date. This does ofcourse include "on-stream' throwing while we fish ... right ?

Why restrict yourselves to matching the rod to the fish? Catching a 10 pound yellow on a 000 wt is akin to launching a 4 inch small stream trout into orbit with an 8 wt,.. great fun for the angler! Isn't that what it is ultimately all about, how much FUN we have? I'm looking forward to hitting stream X with my 10wt next. Now that should be FUN!!!! Dying to see how far I can make the little buggers fly

I would go for the 3wt, use one at the moment and is doing great with dries and nymphs. have taken a yellow on it though and felt it lacked a bit of backbone, even though the yellow was under 1 kg. hooked a carp the other day on this rod, but couldn't get that one out, got broken of in some underwater structure. the rod was to light to turn the old fat lazy carp around. but hey, I love the overall feel of the 3 wt!
