Well done guys! Looks like quite glassy conditions. Did your theory pay off Grant....fish taking deeper?
Kev and I did some exploring at Koekedou yesterday - trying to figure out this dam a bit. This dam produced a 7lb rainbow last year. It has also recently produced Largemouth Bass over 3kg so the potential for big fish is there.
We managed 5 trout (Kev 3, me 2), none of which could be classed as monsters. 4 were about 35cm and one was probably 40cm. These fish are all wild fish which are always nice to catch in a stillwater impoundment. The smaller ones hit the flies hard and fought like machines but the larger one did not put up as good a fight. The fish all took large flies like fritzes and big mrs simpsons.
We also got a bucketful of small bass on fritzes and zonkers.
I think this dam just needs some time to be figured out and then it could be a producer of some really nice wild fish!
Here's some pics of the fish we caught:

Yes we did catch the fish quite deep Chris. The wind did pick up though, but we still caught fish deep. Not sure if there was another factor behind that though.

Hi Grant
Must have been a bit nippy up there, Did you get your fish all over the dam or near the wall side? All my fish I've taken off the ledge on the left hand side,
looking at the dam from the gate. Surprising the bass are coming out still. Nice and peacefull up there though.....untill the wind comes through.
Thanks for the feedback, enjoy the day off. I'm supposed to be catching up on work as I fished on Friday, but can't seem to concentrate
cheers

Hi Rols,
Yes we got all the trout on the left hand bank looking up from the dam wall. We got bass there and also lots of bass along the right hand bank which we trolled along in the evening.

My son and I fished this location our last winter on the WC. He landed a small bass by the big waterfall. We then went over to the right-hand side of the dam. I landed one in the middle; there was a white drum, the rest, about 5, 5m from the bank in 6m water, all on big Zonkers and WB…
This is a very nice location, it was very cold, and we started fishing around 11:00 and got of the water around 17:00.
I had more success at this venue that at Lakensvlei...
Hi Guys
How do you get to fish this dam? How do you get there?
When we fished their, Phillip had controle, but I think it is now under CPS management...
