    Default Gerrit's Zonker Damsel

    Hook:Mustad C51 size 2
    Thread:14/0 Olive
    Tail: Olive Zonker strip
    Body:Olive Hares Ear Dubbing
    Rib:Amber Wire
    Legs:Olive deer hair
    Thorax:Mixed dubbing(Choc brown + Olive)
    Lead:0.020
    Wingcase:Olive/Brown Medallion Sheet
    Stalk:99lbs mono
    Eyes:UV knot

    Step 1
Add your thread.End of right above the hook point. Now also add lead and cover the thorax area. Not to much,10 turns is fine.

    Step 2
Tie in the Zonker tail.Tie in point right above hook point.

Strip the hair from the skin.U only wrap thread over the stripped skin, not over the hair.

Wrap your thread over the skin till u reach the lead. It's important to select a tail width thin enough for the hook u intend using.Too wide a tail will look way to bulky.

    Step 3
Tie in the Amber Wire on the side of the body and dub the body till u reach the beginning of the thorax.Remember that you want a slim profile dubbed body.

    Step 4
Wrap the wire forward in close spaced turns, secure the wire and cut the excess wire.

    Step 5
    Tie in your wingcase material.

    Step 6
Tie in a few strands of Deer hair on either side of the body.Do a few dubbed turns after the hair.I used mixed Olive + Brown dubbing here for a slightly darker thorax.

Then tie in some more Deer Hair strands.I follow this step 3 times in total till I reach the eye area.

    Step 7
Tie in your mono.Dub around the mono and bring wingcase over.Trim the wingcase short and also cut the mono short leaving 2mm on either side.Whip finish and tie off.

    Step 8
Add some UV to the eyes, dry it and color in with a black marker. Also add the UV ontop of the wingcase.

Final step.Tease out the dubbing on the underside of the thorax.

    Finished fly

Nee, hy het 'n secret trick.
UV knot sense on the mono. Then color it agterwards.
    Ingenious.
