    Default Bass - southern suburbs

Other than Zand vlei and Princess / Little Princess vlei does anyone know of decent bass venues in the southern suburbs or out Stellenbosh way ? I'd prefer to stick to this side of the mountain ranges (Du Toits Kloof or Sir Lowry's)...

    Thanks,
    Eben

    hi there

i know that the tygervalley quarry dams has big bass in but it is a good thing if you have a float tube. There is a couple off bass dams in the stellenbosch area, but i know in the swartland there is a lot!!
If you guys feel like going to have a cast do contact me.

    hi john
the one dam is managed by the university and no fishing is allowed there. the one at the waterfront we used to fish a lot before the development. the hassle now being able to find a good spot to fish with a fly line as most of the frontage leads onto a shop or restaurant. i dont think float tubing is allowed. i know when we fished those years ago there were no boating and no swimmimg signs posted around.
The big dam in kenridge is also nice for bass.
    cheers

    Hi Dewald / Roland,

If you don't mind an extra rod along I'm keen to fish some spots in and around D'ville.

Only spots I fish for bass are Bottelary (spelling??) and Eikenhof.

    Default Spotted Bass

Besides Weisenhoff, has anyone caught spotted bass at other venues in the western cape? I fished a private dam this weekend, and got pulled all over the show on a 5weight by a 750g bass... It fought like hell and upon close inspection (jawline and rough patch on tongue) it turned out to be a spotty.
