Dubbing Alternative

Hi Guys

This may be a stupid question but could polar fibre be used as dubbing material ? Reason i ask because it is hard to find some chartrese dubbing for salty buggers here in durban . Could the tips of the polar fibre , after been cut to 2 cm lenghts and mixed properly be used as dubbing also add some sparkle thread to it . Has anyone done this before ? and could this work ?

Yup it can work, but wax your thread properly before twisting your noodle, or you can split the thread and pack the polar fible in the loop and then twist into a rope.

YEP ... I use it often ... either straight or mixed in with other natural fibres. Chuck it all into a coffee grinder!

Thanks for the idea on the grinder , will try a new Java roasted caffe latte fly tonight

From the ancient days when fly tying shops were unheard of, I can vouch that virtually ANYTHING can be used for dubbing material - especially with the advent of the coffee grinder as the other gents say!

What about using chartreuse chennille? Should work perfectly
