Well done, lovely to see pre spawn fish in that condition from a venue like GVP.
Next time ... beef up the tippet !
Yesterday I caught the fish of my dreams. A monster SM yellow bar of gold! After 20 minutes of fighting/swimming/falling, on a 4X tippet and a 5-weight rod, this beauty came to net with the assistance of Rory. I would not have managed to land it myself. Thanks Rory, and thanks to Herman for the use of his boat yesterday.
My net tops out at 4kg, and I'm sure Rory will agree that the net SLAMMED into the 4kg mark. I measured the fork length last night (marked it on the rod in the river) and it was 67cm. But I cannot emphasise how massive the girth of this fish was. I literally struggled to hold it properly! I weighed a few things between 5 and 6kg last night, and I would estimate the weight of the fish to be somewhere between the 2.
This is me trying to turn the bus.

Viola! Please note the placement of the dorsal fin for a guide to it's length. I was hiding the tail behind my arm.
