Hi guys.
I know this has been spoken about before on the forum but after searching and sifting through the posts info about targeting these okes is a little thin. I would like to know more about fishing for these boys specifically. I know that a good place for the is the lights by he jetty in strand. I have also heard that kalk bay harbor is good for them. Are there any guys out there that have had consistent success in catching these guys on fly? If so what techniques proved to work the best with regard to tackle weight, flies, lines, tides, time etc. I wanna have a go at them this summer and wanna go well armed.
Thanks Boys
Jason

Earlier this year the guys with skiboats went to Simonstown bay (just outside harbour) to fish for maaasbanker when the southeaster was pumping at Cape Point. Some boats got more than a 100 in braod daylight.
If fishing from a boat you would definately need a Di7 line. Sean Mills recon white salty buggers is the fly of choice .

This should be a good call. their staple food is creel, prawns and shrimp. Maybe also the young maasbanker which hatch at the end of winter and spring and drift with the currents. This would mean a fly in the clouser form with white calf tail topped with olive calftail in sizes 4 - 6. to immitate these young. Weighted.

Hi,
I have caught them at Blakes and Struisbaai mostly after sunset. I have found that white crazy charlie tied sparsely works really well. They are good fun on the rod and give a good account of them selves. At Blakes I caught them on white and pink clousers as well.

Hi,
The flies where weighted with appropriate dumbbells for the hook size, and fished with a floating line.... I fished from shore for them.
Hi,
I caught them from 15cm right up to 30cm in size
