    What flies work for Barbel?? i have never caught one let olone seen one in person, how do you handel them?? my oupa warned me about a spike that they have that can poke you, is this true?? i have a 6/7wt rod & 6wt line.. should i rather not try for them?? I know for carp the carp fritz and bloodworms work..

    Many flies work but the two "specific" flies are 1)Half chickens and 2)Babbich Barbel buggers (big black wolly buggers with yellow - chicken- or red - BBB - for a tail). I think your oupa was talking about squeekers with the spine on the dorsal fin. Never noticed one on a barbel

    use to pass there about 6 in the morning all season an let me tell you that water was always boiling gessing its barbel tight lines but consider joining us on the vaal for a day you wont regret
    You cant change yesterday but you CAN make a diferance in tomorow !!!
