Can't say I've read the book, but the shuck is very defenitely from his La Fontaine Sparkle caddis. Most of the versions I've seen have used a dubbing underbody below the antron. I have tried to get something more translucent and "shucky" going with the flash underbody and sparse dressing. I guess it's very difficult now a days to come up with something truly original - we are always, to a degree, influenced by what we have seen... I for one like to play around the edges of traditional patterns, preferring the variation rather than the theme. It's more fun that way!
