Artificial Fibre Bass Bug

Another Artificial fibre Bug.
Here it is how to create "legs" and "spun head"

Hook: J hook to size
Thread, thick strong and easy to split.
Material: Frizz Fibre from Fishient Group. In various colors.

Wrap Hook shank.
Cut pencil thickness White or any color you want in 10 cm lenght.
Wrapp onto hook.
Clamp 4 to 5cm piece of Frizz Fibre in Bull dog clip or MPJ tool. Cut off and spin. Wrapp onto shank, folding back the fibres from wrapped pieces as you wrap forward.
Clip diffirent color into bull dog clip or MPJ tool. Repeat spinning and wrapping.
Do this process until you reach bend section.
Cut 20cm piece of Frizz Fibre and tie in with Figure 8 wrapps. Bring thread closer to eye of hook and wrap another 20 cm piec in as "legs" with figure 8 wrapps.
You will now have gaps between the legs and the body.
Clip Frizz Fibre in Bull dog clip or MPJ tool.
Cut pieces only 2cm long. Spin and wrap between "legs" and body. Till all gaps are filled.
Use sciccors to trim head and body to shape. Be carefull not to cut the legs.

Epoxy/ stick on eyes.

This bass bug is pure movement. This specific shape will have a diving action, with a very neutral density.
The Frizz fibre will tangle, Dont Worry. It gives it a diffirent motion.
It will wrapp around the hook shank. You will very soon get the grip how to loosen it. The Best will be on a barbless hook.
The last picture is of the fly wet.

Nice ones Korrie, will start tying now - I've suddenly got a rekindled 'bass bug'

. Have you also tried that acrylic carpet yarn? I tease it out with a dog comb - it's got great movement in the water, makes wonderful baitfish imitations and is cheap and simple (like me)

I have not tried the acrylic carpet yarn. The Frizz Fiber form Fishient is cheap and comes in too many colors.
I dont know where to get the acrylic carpet yarn, can you perhaps help where to get it?

Those miserable fabric guys Fiona's in Randburg I know used to have some will check them out. I actually still have mine from old Oz days. I'll check Fiona's shop next time my daughter wants to visit otherwise I look like a pooftah gonig inthere asking for the stuff!

PS if the Fishient Frizz Fibre is cheap and in many colours I wouldn't bust a gut over acrylic yarn!

Chris,
I buy 20 packets of the white at a time.
WHite is the primary color I use.
WHite blends in with any color that you mix, to lighten the shade etc.
WHite can be colored with permanent markers to any pattern shape etc you want.

I posted a fly on Flytalk a while back, tied up this style, with Frizz Fibre.
It took about 100 knocks from Tigerfish. It is virtually industrucable if tied with the right thread and tension.

I have bought from them before as per Korrie's referreal but I know mias in woodmead sells their products as well..

Thanks Korrie, I've stacks of marker pens at home of different colours so I will buy some Frizz stuff only if it's white (like old Ford cars but the opposite if you see what I mean!)
