    Default What to do

    Hi all,

I have recently stumbled upon a website were a gentleman offers hunting and fishing trips in SA, one of his fishing promo picks contains two rather sizable and unfortunately very dead large mouth yellow’s. As a hunter I would have presumed he would be aware the yellow is a protected species.

What can one do in such a case?

I also have an issue with subsistence fisherman at one spot I fish occasionally, they to catch and kill yellows. I have pleaded and begged for them not to keep the yellows but to no avail. To whom do I report this and what action can I expect?

So what's the site address, If you don't want to put it up here can you maybe pm it to me? Might be the one that was mentioned on here a while ago, also a hunting and safari site... there are ways to force them to remove those pics....

I am afraid that spamming him might be the only option, annoy him into submission

Spamming wont slow him down too much if he has remotely decent mail server filtering.

Now a domain whois query, on the sa domain registry will give us more "useful" info

Then we know who owns/maintains and pays for the site (and the billing address)..... hehehe

It seems that my mail may have penetrated. We may spare him the spamming for now, I will monitor his site.

    Here is his reply.

    Hello Abraham

Thanks for your e-mail. Yes I know yellowfish is now on the endangered list.
The pictures were taken about six to seven years ago, might even be longer
and it was the first largemouth yellowfish I ever caught. I caught the small
one first and kept it to be mounted. I then caught the big one and the small
one died so I could not put it back. I caught several large ones since then
and all have been released. I will change the wording on my website to that
effect and I do apologize if the pictures of the dead yellowfish upset you.

Thanks again for bringing it to my attention

Any advice on the subsistance fisherman gents??????

Would nature conservation not be able to hand out some hefty fines???? This may serve as waring or even stop them from fishing??

The guy looks like another fly by night operator to me. If he has caught and released so many yellows over the past 6 years as per his claim, why no photos of those? Why only photos of his first two dead fish!?
