    Default Coating knots

Hi, is there anything i can use to coat my knots? For example, where i have backing tied to backing, and backing to fly line and fly line to leader. I know of loons uv stuff but its pretty pricey. I am looking for something that does similar to that but that can be either found at home or at a normal hardware shop.. Cheers andrew

I personally use fly paint on my CZN leader which acts as an indicator.Maybe 5 drops or so,nice and easy to see and works great.

Also on a needle knot ie butt section of leader to fly line. That's it,try and minimize it if u can but that's just my view on it.

No it's not, about 70-80 ront just like UV knot. What knots do u tie?

The reason why I don't like it is because once u reel ur leader in,the whole shabang often gets stuck against the guides.

Bottom line,no matter how neatly, sparesly u apply the coat,if ur knots suck it aint gonna help.

But try it,maybe u like or not

Needle knot for leader to fly line.
Backing to backing is a double uni with 6 turns each side.

I've had the same tube of knot sense for about 4 years and it's nowhere close to being finished. I don't think it's that expensive for what it is.

Thats good news.. I didnt know it would last that long. At my local shop its R96 which is a bit excessive for such a small tube. but if its gona last so long then its worth it.. does it work well??

That sounds a bit over the top. I'm sure I've seen it locally for around R40-R50 a tube. I'll look when I pop in at my local shop on Saturday.

NEEDLE knot (NOT "NAIL" knot) .. then sometimes coat it with any liquid adhesive/varnish I have around ... just enough to get the adhesive to run into the windings, not make a big lump, but if you tie the knot neatly, with not too many windings, it is unnecessary.

I hate "loops" anywhere on my lines, and have also had those heat shrink tubes pull out.
I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.
