Default Any fly fishermen in Taranaki?

Does anyone here live and fish the streams in Taranaki? I've moved to New Plymouth now but can't seem to get much info on the where and how to fish these waters. Anyone?

Brett, you lucky sod! Taranaki has some superb small stream fisheries. There are over 40 streams that drain the mountain that have trout in them. And some of them are very good, with fish to 5 and 6lbs (sometimes bigger). The streams clear quickly and you can usually spot your fish. Best of all is that you will most likely have the river to yourself - not many flyfishers in those parts.

The pamphlets on the Fish and Game website will give you plenty of places to start. A 4 or 5 wt rod with a floating line will see you right. The fish are mostly in the pools so spot them thoroughly. Let me know when you have sussed out all the spots and I'll come down for a weekend....

    Have fun!
Life is a series of trout missions with that numbing feeling in between...
