Arrow Your favourite 12WT rod ?

    Hello boy-os,

Having recently had my first real experience with what I consider to be a proper 12WT and casting it for a short while, I found it to be quite an eye opener.

Coming from a FW background, one tends to think of a 10WT as a cannon or a stick and a half, untill you get a proper 12WT in your grubby little mitts.

Having cast other 12WTs from a few different manufacturers before, this particular stick was noticeably more powerful and you could feel it just screamed "OOMPH" !

It was a G.Loomis Crosscurrent GLX and if I had the bucks for one, I'd probably buy two.

Now my question, from the dedicated SW guys, what is your favourite 12WT and why ?

    Howzit Scythe

That Loomis is a super comfortable canon and quite possibly the best heavy casting stick.

I fish the Thomas and Thomas. The T&T sticks can, at least in my opinion, take far more punishment on boats than what the Loomis and Sage can. This is my primary consideration but they are also super casting sticks over long periods of time and they have the backbone required to pull on hectic fish.

The other option is of course to look at Sage but those are only for snobs.

    Cheers
    MC

Scythe - From what I've fished, I'd go the GLX Crosscurrent hands down.... But I've not fished the T&T's so cannot comment on them... obviously MC has ALOT more experience and has fished most rods so his statement on them is golden....

I guess I just have a thing for G.Loomis, even though I don't own any, and probably never will.... my 12wt Horizon's have served me very well so far...

Lou Tabory designed XX 12wt (both models...one has single grip, the other has two grips (FWells and a foregrip)).
Edit: It's a little faster than the Sage Xi2 12wt, but I also LOVE the Xi2!!

They sound like some other real stuff!

However are they as sensitive as a 3wt hollow fibreglass?
