Default Eiland 13 hotel development - Parys

This from the latest YWG newsletter.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

The consultants for the proposed and controversial hotel development on the farm Eiland 13 in the Vaal River outside Parys have advised me that as part of the public participation process they will be holding a public meeting on Wed 8th July at the Dome Community Church, 83 Loop St. in Parys.

If you wish to participate and meet the project team please contact AGES Northwest at 018-2976588 before 3rd July.

Does anybody have more info on this?

I tried google but did not find anything that seems to be related...

Is this - 'The Island' / "Die Eiland", on the right, as you exit Parys in the Vredefort direction?

Have heard of it and the controversy related to the project but cannot remember the detail anymore.

Will have a talk to some of my friends in Parys to hear what they have to say.

Default GPS coordinates for proposed hotel site

For those as compas illiterate as I am - here is the converted co-ordinates:

    26°54'50.42" S 27°25'40.05" E

    ----------------------------------

The site is on the front door of Otter's Haunt; should this project continue a beautiful area will be destroyed. This specific islands are home to numerous Fish Eagles who always make their presence known when one fish the area - it would be a pitty not to hear their call anymore.
