    Default Waikato streams

Here is some footage from the local streams that I regularly fish. Not my footage but shows some of the typical fish that we get.

Not sure how this works if you don't have broadband.

Lovelr rivers, lovely fish, dubious fisherman What about fish density? I've heard reports that, although fish are large, in most rivers they are few and far between. (Make the Witte look overpopulated ).

Fish density is good in most North Island lowland streams, not overpopulated but still enough to keep you interested. Our fish aren't typically as big as some South Island rivers but there are more of them. Our rainbows run 1 to 3 lb, 4lb being a good fish. The browns can get bigger though, typically 3 - 4 lbs, up to 6lbs, more than that is rare.

Some visitors who DIY the South Island catch very few fish as the fishing is so different and the fish quite sparse in some areas. But in the NI you will at least feel you line go tight more often.

B.T.W. that is not me, but I know the angler.
