NICE!
Lyk my jy het een vir elkeen van ons op die forum gebind!
I thought I'd share some of my best producing SM Yellows flies. The first beta version went out in September 09 already but I only took it further once the success rate got a bit overwhelming.
We all know the very successful Brassie fly. It produced some awesome catches for me and some of you and I'm sure it will be a fish taker till end of time.
However,I got bored with the pattern and decided to come up with something more spesific. More spesific to general Caddis Pupa and some attractors as well. What makes this pattern so dam well good is the colour combinations, collar as well as triggers like the beads ~ tungsten and glass with the antenna and size of the fly. The segmented rib looks quite cool too!
The body of the fly use wire (brassie) and the collar/thorax/wings/legs use Squirrel hence Squassie. Lots of movement and many impressions of the natural. The Brassie suggested a lot, which isn't bad, I just wanted something more spesific for summer Nymphing i.e. Pupal drift prior to hatching.
The colours are Red, Hot Yellow, White, Amber, Chartreuse and Olive all tied in #14's and #16's and can be fished as a point or top dropper or both sumultaneously
Hope you like!

Nice - that hot yellow wire grafts!
What are you using for the Antennae? Woodduck?
Check your knots!
I particularly like the way you do the body, running the wire down the hook in close wraps and then up again in open spirals. Never occurred to me to do it that way - mens leer altyd iets nuuts!

Nice going Gerrit,
I've been a long time fan of glass beads for emergers and pre hatch drift flies.
I think I will steal the wire body from yours and adapt it to my existing Casemaker patterns, see what the results are.
Well done.

Nymphing, adds depth to your fly fishing.
Nymphing, is fly fishing in another dimension

Thanks Bertie, I stole your Casemaker idea and tied it with Squirrel as well. Orange bead instead of thread wraps.I think it looks very similar but your GB version is a sure winner.
Check this!
