    Default river running through badplaas?

can anyone remind me what the river is called that runs through badplaas in mp? I think its the buffalo stream. Its not the komati that comes out vygeboom dam.
I fished it on a private farm in august last year. Amazing looking stream with excellent, fast flowing rapids followed by some deeper glides and slow pools.
But i had zero action and even in the superclear water i saw nothing.
There must be yellows in that river. Can anyone respond that has fished this river?

    Default palmiet river

    hey guys...
i am originally from durban and i used to fish the tiny palmiet river there...small and usually very clean unless there has been big rains.

the river holds hundreds of yellows and some tilapia...still fish it every time i'm down there.

i've never hit a blank there even when i'v only fished for ten mins!

it's a beautiful venue but difficult to get in to.

flies that work are small (14-16) shrimp patterns fished deep with short erratic strips. got a nice one (15cm) on a big shrimp pattern this last wknd.

the fishing in winter is just as good so long as you can find a deep pool.

haven't had any luck on dries as yet, but waiting for this wknd to try!

also got a few on size 14-16 green and black flsh backs.

nothing on caddis or brassies as yet.

i use my 3# greys and 8 foot leaders with 6x (1.4kg) leader.

awesome venue, once again very fragile, but if anyone is going to dbn, give me a shout and we can give it a try if i'm also down.

got a monster in there a few months ago!!!

ps - beware the eels...i reckon my mate n i saw the SA record giant mottled eel there same day i got my monster...check it out on the web. record is around 16kg i think

    thanx gazza.
Natal scalies are definately on the to do list for next year. Wil keep the palmiet in mind. Send me a private message regarding a venue with accomodation and so on.
Im not sure where the palmiet flows but it looks like it has some decent scenery too.
P.s. Well done on the kurper. Excellent fish and the most underrated fish on fly in my opinion.
But they are damn difficult to entice. Especially hot with sitefishing from the banks.

see my gallery for some images of my local waters.
The water was a bit high and dirty on this day, but notice the fish still rising in 1 of the pics

I used to live right next to the Palmiet until I was about 16, but didn't flyfish in those days.

    Could kick myself now.

I think it's called the Seekoei river.
