    Arrow Sage TCX 590-4 completed

    Hi Guys

Sorry I've been a bit quiet on the pics of rod-builds-front, just been a bit busy. I thought I'd share this one though...this is the first TCX that I've built up. Most people still prefer the Z-Axis when it comes to 5wts.
This TCX is a machine though...damn fast actioned! I test cast it this weekend and it posts a 5wt line out a mile. Very nice indeed.

    Specs:

    - Struble U-20 nickel silver reel seat with Burl Madrone insert.
    - Hopkins & Holloway Stripping guides, snake guides and top.
    - Struble RHW grip that came complete. Cork seal has been applied.
    - Goldenrod thread wraps, with garnet NCP trim wraps. (Standard TCX colours that Sage use)

    Some pics...

The burl madrone spacer and U-20 Struble nickel silver reel seat:

The only customised (non standard) piece on the rod. I did interweaved wraps to make it just that little bit different:

    Thanks for having a look.

Great work as always Mike. Quite like the interweaved wraps. Do they take a lot of time?

    Hi Rudolph

    Thanks for the comments.
No not at all, just a bit of patience. Takes about the same time as a normal trim wrap, like on the edges. The only tricky part is to get them nice and straight, but not difficult at all.

    The rod's not bad either..

Serious, Mike that is super - I love the colour combo and I must admit I do prefer the plain cork handles to those 'lighthouse' jobbies but then I'm a boring old frat..Sorry I have not been in touch. Been bedlam with new business, but hopefully in next week or two will have a chance to fish/relax/meet up

Very nice build Mike. I love the look of this rod. Personally the only thing I'd have done differently is used Rust thread for the trims to give a slightly sharper looking red in contrast to the green blank.

I'd love to fish one of the TCX's someday, but right now I'm happy with the TCR's still and so will stay clear lest I severely dent my bank account!

Thanks man...I must say I like the TCX blank's colour too, a lot.
Regarding the trims...the man wanted it to look exactly like the factory rod. I would have put a custom turned wood spacer on it myself, and played more with the wraps and thread colours, and definitely customised the grip a little. I managed to at least convince him to put a LITTLE twist on the rod, hence the interweaved wraps. But ja...the Sage factory rods use Goldenrod and Garnet NCP threads, so I went with that.
For a guy in your neck of the woods by the way...seems the Durban crowd are very "traditional".
