34 million sock eye salmon.
Do you think you can catch one?

“Apparently people don't like the truth, but I do like it; I like it because it upsets a lot of people. If you show them enough times that their arguments are bullshit, then maybe just once, one of them will say, 'Oh! Wait a minute - I was wrong.' I live for that happening. Rare, I assure you” ― Lemmy Kilmister

My mate just got back from a holiday in Vancouver. He tried to book a guide for a day out but they were all full as anglers try to take advantage of this run. But he said you could pick up whole sockeye for $10 each from the boats. Apparantly they have no way of processing all the salmon because a number of processing plants have closed down after some lean years.
I don't think fishing for sockeye in the rivers is that much fun though. I seem to recall reading that they don't eat so you are basically trying to jag sighted fish in the mouth.
The sockeye swim upstream.
You cast across and swing the flies, to a point down stream.
As the fish swim upstream, the mouths are open.
So you basically have to "wet line" the fish.
You have to find the depth at which the fish swim, and try to get the fly "swinging thru their mouths"
The fly will set in the sciccors of the mouth, most of the time.
They will also slash at the swinging fly, out of instinct.
