Hey guys......

I was wondering whether anyone knows this venue at all? Could you maybe share some insight/tips for fishing there?

Tip #1 : Leave your flies and invest in some earthworms with a float.

Tip #2 : Go fish somewhere else.

Friends of mine fished there quite often a few months back.If memory serves me correct I think it's on the Roodplaat dam road or somewhere there. Bass,Trout and Yellows available from what I understood.

Also some river fishing in crystal clear waters I hear. They advertise in TCFF!

Well, can you suggest another venue close to Pretoria that's in the same price range that offers C&R?

did he enjoy the venue? i'm looking for a "family" place to go for someone's birthday. he's also a beginner fly-fisherman.

Can't recall,will ask when I see him next week. I think they only went for the day when the Vaal was in flood.

Well correction ... the river section is the same colour as the sludge near Harties dam wall, incidentally ... the river is also not FLY fishable, if you're a Papgooier or an Art Lure/Bass chucker you mightcatch something, still highly debateable.

Way way way way way way way way way way way way way way (did I say way?) too overcrowded and because they allow any kind of angling you're going to be very fustrated, I also took a beginner out there to try and catch her first fish ... was a total waste of time.

Better option is to hit one of the venues out towards Dullstroom/Belfast for the day, more of a drive but at least you will get some fish and be able to enjoy it somewhat.

Nope not from what I heard, they spooked every Yellow in sight because of the good viz.Whether it's fishable or not I don't know,never been there before.Just giving feedback from a flower ff.

Another rumour...Roodeplaat and Harties is clean,my mates went to Roodeplaat to fish for some cats on the weekend.
