What about the Explorer Guide Series? I've had great aftersales service when I wacked the tip against a bridge and havn't had to bad fly presentation with the rod. #3 7.6 the past two seasons. Sometimes it is a bit laizy but I enjoy my baby. Also fit in nicely within your budget.

Echo do have a "normal" length 2-wt in the range - the Echo Carbon 7'6" # 2 is a sweet little rod that'll do most of the things expected from a small stream rod. The brand is not yet well known locally, but Google some reviews on the rod and you'll get a good idea of what to expect from it. And it fits within the stated budget. (and it fits in even easier until Sunday - there's a sale on at Eikendal)
