John, therein lies the answer. I am a "ham handed" bloke who will strip threads up to 20mm 'cause I don't think it's tight enough
I have learned to use a torque wrench
I also used to have my drag set "on the limit " but have now relaxed a bit.
My ( brief ) experience with rods is that you must fish with as many buddies rods as you can and then decide.
If you are in a hurry and need a cheap fast rod, then buy an Elbe.
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

The Xplorer Classic 2 has a faster action than the Guide.
A #4/5 has more a #5 action than a #4

Thanks for the info!
I will be using the rod on small, to mediums sized stillwaters, and nymphing on rivers is an area that is unexplored for me I must still have a look at the TFO range, but from the few that i have seen, they are far out of my price range(R1000-R1500)
Nick
I have tried the Classic 2, and i really like it, but it is 8'6, and im looking for a 9'
I have one question, how does the Guide 2 cast? can it handle long lines?
many thanks
Nick.
I bought a Classic 2 when I started out, was not too happy to be honest, the cork handle started breaking up and going all mushy...
So, now, it collects dust...
