Swartwater - Kwa Kwa

Just wondering if anyone has been to Swartwater recently and is willing to share? I have not been there since 2000.

The last time I fished the place was in 1990.

Sooooo..... I unfortunately have no new info but it sure brings back some great memories.

If you do go, please post some pictures and give us a report.

Apparently these guys http://www.swartwater.co.za/cms/page?id=7 are running the show there, which is good and stocking takes place occasionally, to replace the fish that have been slaughtered by the locals.

My biggest from there is 4.5 kg, released in 1999, also the year that 8.2 kg was caught.

Damn! I miss that place!

No one fish it anymore?
Used to be THE place to go for big fish.

Some amazing memories from years back as MCC says.
Great float tubing in the old channel and some really good fish.

EX-South-African record...there has been a bigger fish come out of a Natal stillwater, in the Underberg area.

Swartwater is an awesome big piece of water. took a monster in that water, will try and find the pic. Sorry can't help on how it is fishing now, my last trip there were about 2002 I think.

Dunno about them...but do know about an 18.5lbs (I think) cockfish that came out of a specific stillwater in Natal. It's mounted at Frontier FF...Brett Manix cought it.
Sight-fished in shallow water nogal! Taken on a #14 PTN nogal.
