I'll re-read the article tonight. He "kept" the fish in some sort of net until someone with a camera arrived. Regardless, a massive fish!!

    You mean "Umpqua"?

Umpqua flies are not one specific fly...you get "Umpqua" nymphs, dries, terrestrials, caddis, etc etc etc...and one of them is called an UMPQUA NYMPH - PHEASANT TAIL.
    PTN, essentially.

    See this: http://www.intrepidangler.com/produc...ESSID=dmtcpkpg
Also click on "Umpqua Flies", to see the range.

Yes, I know, but Brett made a boo-boo with the name when he started working at Frontier, and the name stuck. He called it Umpanque or something to that effect.

Sight-fished in shallow water nogal! Taken on a #14 PTN nogal.
I used to fish the dam quite often, it's an amazing place. The record from there was taken by Andre Postimus if I remember correctly. The fish was up on the wall in present a fly, fly shop, not sure if it's still there. Very, very big fish. There are still huge trout there and I am convinced the biggest trout in SA is still in that dam.
