    Hi all,

You will see that there is action taking place eventually for the emergency stuff on the Vaal. My company I'm glad to announce is part of it. It's also only the first phase so let's hope things will improve gradually but it's an immense challenge, you guys won't believe how much still needs to be done. What the popular press tell you is only the tip of the iceberg

    Cheers
    Chris

    Hi Chris

Can you elaborate a little bit? Are they tackling the sewerage and industrial spills as well or is this just to do with the acid problem? How? More sewerage plants, better policing and enforcement?

    Timescale?

    What does your co. do?

I heard over the news last night, that the Apies river in Pretoria North has now officially been declared a disaster area. They have approached a contractor to remove "sludge" from the water. The problem is apparently caused by a sewerage company on the banks of the Apies.

Hi without sounding like a Cloak And Dagger spy, it's pretty confidential as we don't want to expose our larder to our opposition, suffice to say the first phase will tackle the emergency issues like revamping water treatment plants. No we don't get involved in the sewerage aspect - I have enough of that when I get home at night! If you go into today's Creamer Engineering News it has an article about the AMD we're involved in. We'll realistically be tackling this from now on and in full scale go-ahead by February

    Cheers
