Would believe it as that stretch also called "Regina" in my opinion houses the biggest smallmouths I have seen. There is at least one or two catches of 6kg + being taken in that area per season. My homewaters where I started fishing and still return if possible.

Flyfishing for yellows...the most fun a man can have, with his clothes on, while standing up, holding a bar of gold in your hands.

Ive seen smallmouths that looked like they could be in the 5kg range where I fish - especially compared to what I caught yesterday. But I like to fish sighted, and they tend to be cleverer and move away quicker than the 2-3.5kg fish. There is an abundance of the 2-3.5kg fish around also, which might be why I catch them so much.

If you fish blind at the head of rapids you should get into those fish eventually, but its just not the same amount of fun as stalking a fish you see moving in quieter water.

Agreed lower down at regina there are huge fish - but its hard to pop down there quick after work

Nymphing, adds depth to your fly fishing.

Korrie - ek vang by Elgro, Oord Nebo en Schoemans drif - so niks magic daar nie. Dis alles 25 min se ry van my huis af. Ek dink daars groot visse orals in ons omgewing.
