Some people wear waders all of the time. Others only in winter for the cold.

I have wet waded the Vaal for 7 years now, ( in summer ), never been ill , even with many a fall / drift. Maybe the bugs can't get into my blood 'cos of the alcahol protection ???
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

I used to ALWAYS fish waders [proper Simms breathables], but even those do get you cooked in summer...

On our Orange trip Chris & Klaas converted me to a wet wader, which I am now doing in the Vaal (Parys area) as well... no issues to date; and no issues years back when I started and wet waded.

Don't know of a single person that had issues.

Chris - maybe you got something somewhere else Where did you guys 'stop over' for 'refreshments'

Barend, I had 1 set of shots 3-4 years ago when the sewarge spills were constant.
The one shot lasts 3 years, the other 2.
Methinks they have passed their use by date by now.

Maybe an idea to go get them renewed ?

Gerrit, dis omdat julle jul oop blikke bier in die water koud gehou het

Laat dit vir jou 'n les wees, al is jy hoe dors, moenie die rivier water drink nie.
Fishing is just my thing. I don't know what it is but it seems that i just can't get enough of it.

I do not wade the Vaal without waders. Just for incase of incase.

Plus the waders gives some added protection against nicks and cuts on your shins. You still bruise, but it is a bit better than a cut.

Nope, just the water, it was only me and Frieda on the water, so no funny stopovers etc. I don't have a spleen, so bacterial infections tend to get the best of me. The specialist did say it was a funny bacterial infection, similar to tick fever, probably from the water. (I tested negative for all the regular bacterial infections, tick fever etc.)
