In many countries, eels are a sought after delicasie.

At Hermanus lagoon, there are a couple of guys who cannot wait for the mouth to open, to catch fresh eels.
In Sushi, it is also highly rated.
In Europe, smoked eels, about 25cm long, and as thick as your pinky are sold in a bunch of about a dozen. Superb with fresh bread.
In South Africa, many farmers can relate stories of catching eels, and how they battled to pull the eels out of their holes in the river banks.
One or 2 fly fishers have caught an eel in Elandspad 1, in the big pool.
I have seen one swimming around, below the N1 in one of the pool. It moves so gracefully.
