Oh yes sir. Did you think it was my fishing ability that did me so well? I put it all down to an orange thorax on my brown hunchbacks.

    A favourite fly........

And to think all those folks that believe in the right fly for the right circumstances.

If the water is wet then i like to use the fly on the end of my line.....

That DURBAN JUNGLE JUICE is dangerous stuff!
It's not in the catching, it's in the learning something new.

    Default Ginger Caddis Fly #10

The fly that has worked best for me (fishing 2-fly NZ style and 3-fly czech nymphing or short line nymphing) has been a #10 (or even #8) caddis fly, tied with ginger superbrite.

See pic...scuze the poor quality, was taken in 2001 when I only had a piece of crud HP digital camera, and it's easier than taking a new pic now.

It's a size 10 heavy wire scud hook, has three wraps of lead tape on the shank, and then ginger superbrite for the body and dark brown superbrite dubbing for the thorax. (I also fish them with gold bead heads).
For the back I use Ginger stretchable scud-back, and for the rib I twist 3X tippet with a strand of thin flash, and rib. Then I take a brown permanent marker and darken the scud-back over the thorax.
Oh! And please note the squashed barb hook.

I also tie these down to #16.

This is for the Vaal though, nymphing...if you talk dry flies...that's a whole other story...
