The NFFC second quarter catch returns summary has just been uploaded to the club website. http://www.nffc.co.za This info is obviously only available to members, who log onto the "member zone" with a user name and passord. For some casual "what's fishing well", we direct people to our facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Natal-...68472?filter=1 .

This latest set of results was uploaded late: My fault. Apologies.
The quarter ended 31 August will be uploaded at the end of September. This 30 day delay allows all catch returns to come in, but also prevents an immediate rush on waters that have fished well

An update on club matters: Firstly our we based booking system is up and running. Some initial minor hitches resolved, and I thin k it is going smoothly. Please give me feedback if your experience is otherwise.
The system is a gem. You can book online, including fellow members guests etc. Then you can change your booking by phone later if you are not on the net (for example if you get to the river on the day, find it dirty and want to change to a dam by cell phone). Then whgen you come to do your return, you link it to the appropriate booking, and it auto fills those details.

Conditions: Lots of rain. So the dams are overflowing. Rivers are full (a little murky as I write, but clearing by the hour), and we have had cool sunny weather.
Stocking for this season has been agreed by the stocking committee, and those will be going in between now and November.
Also: we have got back one of our prime waters in the Dargle. Members can log onto the website for details in coming weeks.

    Tight lines

The Mooi and the Umgeni are both looking great at present. Plenty of water, and clean.

Lots of members were out on Monday 24th Sept (the public holiday), and some fair returns are in for some of the dams in the Kamberg. One fish of over four pounds from Prairie. Other reasonable fish from Uitsig.

Some good returns in of late: several fish of 18 to 20 inches from dams in the Dargle and Kamberg, and two excellent fish from the upper Mooi.
Speaking of rivers: be on the lookout for info about our proposed members day ...on the Mooi this time, with a mini clinic thrown in. Sat 3rd November. More details on the FB site and website.

The online booking system appears to be working well. Any feedback?

Stocking of dams will commence in the next few weeks, including our two new waters in the Dargle Valley. Note that one dam in the Dargle is now being managed as a trophy water, with limited rod pressure, and catch and release advocated. Details on the website.
And the Mondi waters should be open towards the end of this year. This is something to look forward to, since they were closed and unstocked for several years, but have now been stocked and un-fished: we expect them to fish well, as "virgin" waters do.

Apologies for letting this thread run dead for so many months. Fishing on club waters is on the up. Granchester has been slow for many months, but since the NFFC took back control of the stocking, it is full of small fish (10 inches), and we see a four and a half pounder from there this week. Good fish from several other Kamberg dams, as well as the one out at Greytown, and those Mondi dams on top of the Karkloof are pumping. Mavela is due to open 1st July: very excited to have this prime water back!

Peter Hayes casting clinic on 2nd May at Hilton College. See the club's FB page for details. http://https://www.facebook.com/page...28786413868472

Some really good catches coming out of stillwaters in the last few weeks: Prairie, Uitsig, Goodhope, and several others.
Also: Mavela opens 1 July! We will be tempering the availability of rod days to start with to save the riparian owner from a mad rush.

NFFC fishing results this winter have been superb. On average guys are getting 3.6 fish per outing, with plenty of fish over 20 inches. It seems that the somewhat warmer winter has made the fishing better for now.
