    Default Kenya options

    Hi Guys,

I will attend a conference at Naivashu in Kenya the end of June and would obviously try to combine work with pleasure. I am considering 3 - 5 days fishing. Any pointers as to where to go? Apparently Lake Turkana is a bit difficult to reach by road and a charter plane would be out of my budget. I know there are trout in the highlands, but I am more inclided to fish for something that we do not find here in SA, like Nile perch. What about Lake Victoria? Lake Naivashu?

    Hope to hear from somebody!

    Thanks in advance!

The offshore flyfishing options in Kenya for Sailfish and Marlin are excellent however June is possibly the worst time of year for them

Lake Naivasha doesnt seem to promising either - http://allafrica.com/stories/201206011213.html

So Lake Victoria is a good option or you could try Murchison Falls for some monster Nile Perch on fly - http://burlfish.blogspot.com/2010/07...ls-uganda.html

Thanks for the info, Bryan. From what I gained browsing online, it sounds like Lake Turkana could be more like what I have in mind. I prefer fishing away from the crowds.

So, nobody has any first hand experience on Kenya apart from saltwater FF?
