    Default The Witvis mystery...

Ok, I now have two large schools of Witvis (White fish) patrolling the banks of our bottom dam and am desperately trying to find a fly or technique to catch them. Any suggestions?

Mayfly, caddis cased larvae, caddis nymph, caddis fly adult and gold ribbed hare's ear are suggested. As for the technique...no idea

Thanks rendier, is that on rivers or stillwater? Have you caught them?

    Hi Ryan

Stillwater, but it's not on my species list yet. Might just come and join you at the lower dam some time soon

yes, try the flies listed by rendier, but in small sizes - up to #20. beware when these okies take off on a thin tippet - they will break you off before your rod tip has even moved. Try a very slow fig8 ahead of cruisers or a static even. good luck it is an honour to catch one of these - even from a stocked dam.
