    Default Fishing without a rod

After being house-locked with flu, today seemed like quite a good time to take the 2 boys out to the Karnemelkspruit for some fresh air, a change of scenery, and just to give mom and baby some quiet time in the house.

No rods were taken, and we spent about an hour just walking the river and taking some pics. I took quite a lot, but once home quickly saw that I really need a polarising filter for my cameras.

We saw a lot of good trout holding in the pools. As you can see, the water is quite low, but this is common for this time of year. Late autumn is also my favourite time to try and catch some of the bigger fish in there. I onyl saw 1 of those unfortunately - a fish of about 20", but the picture was so bad it's not even worth posting. Loads of 12" - 14" fish, and about 2 x 16" fish sighted.

Will try and get the video taken from higher op on Biddy's Corner edited to some degree of viewability ... Some nice fish hovering in the pool there.

Nice pics and video Mario! It would have driven me crazy not to have a rod with me ;-)

Helps to be a little crazy before you go Was actually quite cool stalking without having to "worry" about spooking fish. Also gave me quite a nice indication on what to do when I do have the chance to go and target them. It will have to be with a buddy that will do 90% of the directing to the actual angler. No way you are going to get close to those fish (in the low water). You'd have to get your mate to shout some directions ito cast to a cruising fish - only way.

Well, it would have been the farm if Mila did not also get sick, and we just had to get out a bit and give the 2 girls a break. Then again, those fishies are only 40 minutes from my doorstep, so it's a nice little outing - did the boys good too!
