    Default Pencil Poppers

A few questions to this esteemed forum

-What is a good diameter for a pencil popper?
-Which appear to work better - poppers, sliders or divers?
-Do you use proper popper hooks, or do you put a bend/kink into the shank of a regular longshank hook yourself?
-Is there a preferred hook for pencil poppers? I despise stainless hooks. Too difficult to sharpen properly.
-Has anyone tied them as tube flies? And what hook do you use then?

By the way, I remember once seeing a ceramic hook sharpening tool at the used-to-be Flyfishing Adventures. Can such a tool stilll be found? At what price?

    - 12mm amd 80mm long
    - slider
    - Longshank eye cut off and whipped with piano wire.
    - as you wish. I prefer stainless
    - No. But not a bad Idea. attach any streamer.

Then Ive progressed to crease flies why then want to use a pencil popper? when you can eliminate 50% of the weight?

why use piano wire when you can use a long shank hook it works just as well.just need to find a hook with a big enough gape.
