I will be visiting Rastatt in Germany for 3.5 weeks in October.
Rastatt is in the south west of Germany, not to far from the Rhine river.
What fly fishing is available in that area?
Kind regards
Craig
Hi Craig
It looks like it is on the edge of the Black Forest (Schwarzwald). Pretty much all the rivers in there has brown trout. It is difficult to find out via the internet which rivers one can get access to. There are a few, and they are very well regulated. Requires fishing license which you get from the Town Counsel. Check out the website www.rudiheger.au, they have access to the Traun, which is a awesome river. Couple hours drive from Rastatt, but would be worth your while for a weekend.
But if you go walking in the Schwarzwald, it is pretty easy to find access able stretches of water. Take a 3 weight or smaller, as some of these streams are pretty small. It seems in Germany the Browns also like RABs, so take some of those along. It is a Beautiful country.
Regards
Christoff
