Default Zigela on the Tugela river

Howsit guys anybody been here before or know the area.
Going to be there at the end of November for a wedding and apparently you can do some fishing for scalies.
Any idea of patterns and tactics that might work?

Flyfishing for yellows...the most fun a man can have, with his clothes on, while standing up, holding a bar of gold in your hands.

Tugela in that area holds a good head of scalys. Water might already be a bit dirty that time of year though (depending on the rains). ... watch out for crocs!

I've been there a couple of times - all school functions and no fishing.
My ex lived in Weenen and we used to fish for Barbel often there.
Zingela's water was always brown when I when there (Septembers and January).
There are lots of little rapids and eddies on the River.
I'm from Winterton - upstream from Zingela and we have a couple spots that have Yellow fish.

Zingela is a lovely location. Fishing is good even if the water is dis-colored. The way to go is upstream nymph fishing to pocket water. There is good fishing 100m in right front of lodge and 600 m above left of lodge. Late evening pools below rapids offer some good dry fly action

Howsit guys a little report back from my first attempt to catch yellowfish on fly.

    Thanks for all the help.

So went to Zingela for a wedding and obviously had to pack in my fly rod.

Water was very low and they were apparently flushing the dam so water was a bit dirty.

Didnt get to do to much fishing on account of to many beers and a slight hangover.

Managed to get this barbel tho on a small hot spot of all things but no scalies. It is a wonderfull place and will defanantly be back and concentrate more on the fishing than drinking.

Gave me a decent fight on my 5wt.
