    Default Morgans Bay

Any info on where to fish and for what at Morgans Bay, Eastern Cape. I'm gonna spend a couple of days there at the end of April. Never fished there before. I understand there might be some Leeries and grunter.

I would go have a look at Double mouth, I got smash up there so hard last time. Besides that plenty of gullys around the hotel.

i was there a few years back, flogged the water with not much luck.

Only fish i saw in the estuary was mullet & moonies. Locals i chatted to said fishing is "not what it used to be" ...

Kei is definitely an option. Its very close.

Double mouth is South of the hotel. You just carry on driving past the hotel along the road that runs behind it. That goes up over the hill and head back down to the mouth of a river which has been closed for awhile.

"There is also an estuary at the Double Mouth Nature Reserve, 4km from Morgan's Bay, which is one of the only places on the Eastern Cape where there has been a recorded catch of a river snapper. This makes the estuary a perfect place for light-tackle and saltwater fly-fishermen. Good fishing is also to be had in the Kei River, just 7km away. You can also charter a deep-sea ski boat or launch your own from the Kei River mouth."

I got my biggest saltwater fish ever, at double mouth...a cob of about 10 pounds, with a salty bugger. Ok, several years ago, but I'm sure that the fish are still there.

When I were there the estuary got cleaned out by a flash flood. Fishing dificult but I got a couple of Grunters - not on fly though. There were no sign of any Leeries, but the locals tells stories...

I got a 4.5kg river snapper in the mouth at Morgan Bay when I was there on honey moon. That river mouth has produced for me every time. I have mostly been cleaned up there but the revvvvvvv is awesome.
