I think that most fly shop sell them. If they don't stock Orvis, they will order what you want.

The agents dont have the model im looking for and they say if they order it will take 6 weeks & the cost with the rand/dollar makes it unfeasable.
Was hoping a fly shop had one in stock.

I dont know about it being unfeasable. Perhaps if you bring it in through the agent, but if you bring it in yourself it can be worth it. Ive ordered a few flyfishing items from the States and its worked out quite a bit cheaper every time. Never bought a rod, but i did buy a reel, line, pack, chest pack etc

I know that StreamX in Cape Town has a few Orvis rods in stock.

Have a look at a couple of sites. You might even pick up free shipping.

    caddisflyshop.com (Good service)
    thetroutfitter.com (Never used)
    stillwaterflyshop.com (Very good service)

    Cheers

    Thanks Jean
Do you just pay VAT on this side when you receive the item?

VAT on the invoiced amount, plus your clearance.

Supposedly yes, but on all the occasions that I have ordered the VAT and clearance that I paid was insignificant amounts. Maybe I am just lucky but it has always been amounts that seem VERY low. I remember my first order was a reel and fly line which was for $300 and I paid something like R100 when I collected it from the Post Office.

My last order was for $172 and $218 which was posted together and I paid R200 when collecting.
