Very interesting topic this guys. I do a lot of salt water flyfishing up the west coast. In my personal opinion, the well known, popular destinations are expensive purely because of exactly that, they have become popular over a number of years, as well as being holiday destinations for the non fisherman as well, wives, kids etc etc. Two spots I have fished frequently, Point denis, off the coast of Gabon, and then the top spot, Sette Cama, which is further south of Point denis, near Gamba. These two destinations in my opinion offer some of the best Salt water flyfishing to be experienced. Jacks, Barracuda, Red snapper, Mackeral, 3 spots just to mention a few of the popular species caught. Gabon is one of the only country's in africa that has a completely protected marine environment. Do your selves a favour, and watch this video on youtube, this will not cost you near R100k.

Another suggestion is the nubian flats, I was at a flyfishing destination presentation a week ago, and this destination was shown, looks absolutely un real. Tourettes fishing does guided tours to both gabon as well as the nubian flats, and their prices are a lot more reasonable than some of the other companies. Give them a shot.
