So me and the wife decided to take our anually trip down to Mpumalanga for some Quality time and definitly someTrout Fishing aswell.

Geared up and ready we left the thursday afternoon to arrive at our destination at 19:30. what a lekke sight to behold to see your cottage for the first time and its even more thatn you expected. As soon as we settled in it was time to light the fire and get the rods out and get rigged up for the next morning.

My setup consisted of a 5-6 Weight Prince sensation rod combined with a Explorer reel, a intermidiate sinking line, a Phlueger 10pound tapered leader combined with a 9 Pound tippet.

My 2nd setup consited of a 4-5 Weight Phlueger rod combined with a Explorer reel, a weight forward floating line, a Phlueger 10pound tapered leader combined with a 7 Pound tippet.

1st Morning was up at dawn and when i got to the 1st dam i was greated with the most amazing sign of Trout breaking the surface. I got my floating setup ready in a flash and whipped a cast out towards the middle of the dam rigged with a egg pattern colour orange with a San Juan Worm immitation following bout 30cm behind and let it drift. I laid the rod down and followed with my sinking setup rigged with my all time Favourite Paparoach in Brown and Olive Green. I made my 1st cast to get the line nice and wet and started with a slow to moderate retrieve. the second cast whent out, i let the roach sink about 1 meter and started a slow retrieve again and "WHAM" im vass with my 1st trout at 06:30am. The fish made awesome acrobatic jumps then i noticed a funny thing.... there was another fish jumping with this fish.... thatb when i realised line flying of my floating setup . there i was ... 6AM in the morning with a Double up, my 1st double up ever on fly.

What a Awesome feeling

The weekend ended with 14 Trout Caught and Released safely...Attached a Photo of my New PB caught on the Saturday.

Nice report and nice fish. Did the fish in the photo release ok, or did you kill it? looks like your thumb is through a hole in the lower lip:biggrin:

Hahaha i was gripping like crazy with the thumb man..If you look carefully you will see there is no hole haha.. She was released perfectly and swam away beautifully
