Thread: Pentz Predator

    Default Pentz Predator

    Hello

I have a 9wt Pentz Predator sold as a black eagle or something. Anyway the seal drag does not work properly anymore. If you tighten the drag it increases the friction on the retrieve as well.

IAny ideas how to fix this ? I have stripped the drag but could not see anything that I could tamper with.

Try Q20, had a similar problem on one of my old reels, and the Q20 solved the problem

Why not phone Anton directly? I don't have his number anymore, but I either found it on the forum or by Googling, he is a friendly chap.

If you find a fix please keep us updated here.

I just bought one off another forum that should be here later the week, hope it doesn't have the same issue

I managed to find a number for Anton on the web and gave him a call. He said most likely the one way clutch bearing needs to be replaced. Now where do I source one ?

That may be a bit difficult. Should have asked him if it was custom made by him or which company supplied it and the part number. Looks like I am getting my reel today!

I managed to find the same sized bearing for R72.00 in V town. Now I just need someone to remove the old one and press the new one in.

    Hi Guys

Does anyone have a diagram of the drag setup for the reel? I took the drag apart a few weeks ago and I may have trouble putting it together again. I would really appreciate a photo of the diagram.

The one way clutch bearing should be easy to remove and replace, if you consider the swap from left to right handed retrieve is a simple matter.

There is usually a simple spring loaded clip that locks the bearing into place, the same one you had to remove to get the bearing out in the first place.
