Best you try it, and decide for yourself.

Basically, all fly rods are good, if you are doing what they are meant to do.
If you are going to use this rod to fish for trout in small streams, then its going to be terrible. If you are going to use it as a nymphing rod for the Vaal yellowfish, it would be acceptable , but not great. If you are going to use it for light salt water, estuary work, it would probably be quite good.
Basically very dependant on what you want to do with it.

    Hey rusty,

I have a friend who uses one, has caught lm and sm bass, stillwater trout, small leeries and even small tigers.
Basically any of the bigger freshwater species should be catchable. It hasnt broken yet.

This months tcffm has an article from vaal fisherman and they all seem to use a 7wt 9ft rod for their lm yellowfishing so i guess you could also try that.

If i were you i wouldnt worry too much about opinions on the rod, 10 anglers will give you11 opinions. Rather Use it as a tool to sharpen your skills and if you then want to get application specific you can start buying specialist rods. As beginners in flyfishing we all get fixated on this rod and what not instead of execising the basics correctly.

Sorry for the ramble but bottom line is, just fish the rod and make it work for, you have already invested the moola, might as well make it work

Agree. Stealth is a good brand, and there is good backup service if anything breaks, so do what you have to do, go fishing, and have fun.
