    Default TFO TiCrX 5wt

    Hi.

Does anyone know of someone that wants to sell a TFO TiCrX 5wt rod.

I love these rods but can't find them anywhere, so I'm hoping to come across a good used one.

Yes, you can have mine for nothing. If you want it , its yours. I think its the crappest rod I have ever owned.

Ha ha....Look. Let me re phrase. Its not that its a particularly cr@p rod. I have been spoiled with some of the very best rods, so compared to my other rods, its the cr@ppest. I tend to go for rods for specialist applications, and the TIC RX, isn't really a specialist rod at all. I didn't find anything that it could do particularly well in the scope of my fishing.

I use my TFO TiCrX 5wt on the Vaal and I love it. But then I really like TFO's in general. They are great value for money.

I found it unsuitable for the Vaal, and for the way I enjoy fishing for yellows. I suppose if you don't need to rely on the feel of the take, then it would do the job, but I experienced it to be a little less than sensitive enough. If you are casting far, and with a fluff ball indicator, then it would be great, but I don't fish like that.

What rod do you use and what technique do you use on the Vaal?

For smallmouth , I use a longer rod, and I generally use Czech, short line nymphing, and mono nymphing techniques. At the moment my rod of choice is a 4wt sage 99. I like to detect the take by feel, and don't use any form of floating indicator.
