What is the best retirement fishing place - Sedgefield, Knysna or Keurbooms River?

Hi, I am looking at retirement next to an estuary in the Garden Route and am wondering which area will have the best fishing potential - Sedgefield (Swartvlei estuary), Knysna estuary or Plettenberg Bay (Keurbooms and Bietou rivers)? Feel free to also comment on the beach and rock fishing. Let's score it out of 10. So comment and also rate please e.g. I think ..... Is the best because .. Blah , blah blah ... I score it S= 6; K = 8; P = 7. At some stage I will do the stats and give the results.:biggrin:

He is very happy there.

Knysna for me (Belvedere especially).....mainly because it is in the middle. Both the others will be within easy reach. Knysna has better hospitals, doctors etc, but for more complicated specialist issues you'll have to go to George anyway. O, yes, and add a boat to your essential retirement needs.

I have been living on the Garden route since 1990 - first four years in George then moved to Rheebok which is next to Little Brak River as I was closer to Mossel Bay to launch my little centre consol ski boat. I worked in George until I retired almost two years ago so was commuting 69kms a day. As we fall under the Mossel Bay municipality which is rated in the top six munics in the land and has munic rates of half that of George and a third of that of Knysna and Plett and Mossel Bay has most of the facilities that one needs, I see no need to move. If money was no issue, I would stay in Knysna as you have the Lagoon to fish, Goukamma. Sedgefield and Plett close by - within 35 kms. It is 100 kms from my house to launch at KADA.

In my area, you are close to smaller waters like Great Brak and Little Brak, Gouritz and sea launch at Mossel Bay. I recently released a 70cm Grunter on floating prawn pattern in Little Brak but the Leeries and Kob are small but in Mossel Bay have taken up to 12-15kg from the ski boat but that was awhile back. Plenty of Bonito and Elf in season. Gouritz has produced some big Kob this season. Also plenty of bass fishing in the area.
It is currently a buyer's market in the Garden Route so you will have a lot of choice house wise.
