Default New to member and a question?

    Hi All
It’s time to introduce myself, been on the site for a while now and learned a lot. I just started fly fishing only went to fish 3 times but loving it.

I have some question: I want to build up my fly box so I want to know which flies are good flies for a beginning? Fishing for trout most of the time, in Gauteng.

    Any help please

Try Gnu Valley in Muldersdrift. Catch And Release
Also a trace in Springs. Check the Flyfishing magazines. Can also catch and release.
Brookwood Trout Farm in Muldersdrift. Must pay for fish caught

    Hi Snaga.

You should also contact Richard Simpkins from Urban Flyfishers as he goes trout fishing on a regular basis in the Gauteng area and I think he be more then happy to assist.

Welcome here and hope you enjoy it.

Flyfishing for yellows...the most fun a man can have, with his clothes on, while standing up, holding a bar of gold in your hands.

Probably best fly for these type of waters is a Spekboom prawn.

Fishing for trout in Gauteng is basically a winter sport.
In the summer you will have to look at other destinations, a bit further away.
Good to hone your skills in the winter months, but as the sun gets hotter, you will have to drive a bit further east.
