Default Anyone know anything about this mollusc species?

I have a farm on the Umzimkulu river and I have spent most of my life exploring it. I went overseas for a few years and recently returned to find these freshwater clam type things all over the river, literally millions.

They live in the mud and seem to be breeding prolifically. Its the first time I have ever seen a freshwater bivalve in this system. I would be very greatful for any info anyone has on them.

I posted this to the Yellowfish forum because thats the main fish I catch on my 2.5km stretch.

Looks to me like the family Corbiculidae, which is a freshwater clam.

Can you take a photo of the hinge point on the bivalve.
